Premier Michel welcomes 320 visitors on Belgian National Day

10:48 23/07/2015

About 320 people visited the official residence of Prime Minister Charles Michel on Tuesday at 16 Rue de la Loi, on the occasion of the national holiday. It is the first time that the prime minister's official residence was open to the general public in an initiative that came from the prime minister himself, according to VRT Nieuws.

Of the more than 700 people who registered online for a chance to visit the prime minister's workplace, about 320 were selected to take part in the tour. Guided by volunteers and the prime minister himself, the group visited the various meeting rooms and learned about the building's long political history. The visitors also had the opportunity to take a photo in the seat occupied by the prime minister during press conferences.

According to Aurélie Czekalski, spokesperson for Michel, the initiative is worth repeating, although no concrete plans have been made.
