pre-avis

Hello everyone,
My contract was recently terminated>
Since I've worked for a few years in this company, my preavis will carry on for a few months.
During this period of the preavis, my employer is asking me to do tasks which are not my normal tasks and are well below my senority & arent in my job description.
Does he have the right to do so?
