Plane problems keep Belgium’s Foreign Minister Reynders grounded
Belgium Foreign Minister Didier Reynders discovered that cancelled flights aren’t just a problem for the everyday traveller after his army jet broke down as he prepared to take-off of Romania. Reynders was scheduled to meet the Romanian Foreign Minister Tuesday, but the Falcon jet never got off the ground at the Melsbroek military airbase outside of Brussels due to technical problems.
Reynders had planned to meet with Minister Titus Corlatean en-route to the EU-Arab League ministerial meeting in Athens, but by the time a backup plane was prepared there was no time to make the stop in Bucharest. The two foreign ministers will organise another meeting to discuss Romania’s accession to the Schengen Zone, which gives its citizens full movement throughout Schengen countries.
