Plan to improve punctuality on two busy rail lines
The SNCB and Infrabel have agreed on new measures to improve the punctuality of trains on two busy rail lines in Wallonia – the Brussels-Mons-Quévy route and Namur-Luxembourg.
Federal mobility minister François Bellot said in November that there had been a “continued deterioration” of punctuality and the “significant degradation” of customer service on the affected lines and sought the response of SNCB and Infrabel.
The rail operators have been conducting a pilot experiment in Mons, Ciney, Marloie and Libramont that aims to guarantee connections when a train is running late.
About 550 people missed their connections in the Mons region on Saturday as a result of the poor weather conditions. The SNCB arranged buses and taxis for many of the delayed passengers.
