Place for BBQ?
I often go for a walk in Kessel-Lo (next to Leuven) in Kesselberg - they have no playground, but animals (donkeys and sheep). Many people were making barbecue there - I can't 100% guarantee it is allowed, but there were at least 3-4 groups making a BBQ or a fire.
No playground, but in the park of Kessel-Lo you have a great playground (10 min driving).
Also in Wavre across from Adventure Parc (http://www.aventureparc.be/) has some BBQ pits. Get there early on the weekend to get one.
Book early for a BBQ place though! It's a great place to take kids, meet up with others etc in any event. Mine loved it (teenagers now...).
