Phone tapping 50% cheaper
Belgium
11:40 05/03/2013
Phone tapping is set to be cheaper after a budget was approved yesterday, L’Echo reports. In 2011, the justice ministry paid €12.9 million to operators for phone tapping operations requested by magistrates. The new royal decree cuts the previous rates for tapping operations by half. Activating the interception of a phone call will now cost the authorities €12.50, while identifying an IP address costs €8. It is estimated that the measure will allow the justice ministry to save approximately €4 million a year.
