Parttime Job

Question

I have been working in Peoplesoft for few years and now looking for a job in Belgium. It has been a difficult 4 months of job hunting. I am now very depressed and I would like to put my mind on something! I would like to work as a Data entry professional or someone who can help elders with their computer skills in ENglish. Can someone give me an idea on how I can get some part time jobs?

Peoplesoft is an HR software only used by very large organisations and the consultancy market is specialised. Belgium is a small country with relatively few organisations of a size that would use Peoplesoft. You certainly need to be willing to move around if you want to work in that field. Looking for that type of work in Belgium will be a long wait as you've found. Another problem is it is not a particularly portable skill. How are you looking for work? Have you tried jobserve.com?

"Data entry professional" is not a well paid job, about 7 or 8 euros an hour, does that interest you?

Basic PC skills training is also something that most young people can do so again not likely to be something you'll make much money at.

In the IT industry it is best to learn a skill that has very broad application. I am an Access / SQL Developer and these skills are in demand in a very diverse set of environments. That means I'm seldom out of work for long.

Try looking around for freelance web sites and see what work there is out there, be prepared to learn new skills and have a positive outlook, you do sound quite boxed in in your thinking. I wouldn't hire you, sorry, harsh but true.

Elance.com is a good starting point.
