Parts of Océade theme park to be sold at auction

11:39 05/07/2018

Océade water park might be closing for good on 30 September - but here's an opportunity to keep a small part of it for yourself.

Hundreds of items from the popular Brussels attraction will be auctioned off to the public. They include swimming items and decorations, pool machinery such as pumps, filters and tanks, plus kitchen and office equipment.

Online auction house Troostwijk Veilingen is managing the sale. It hopes to attract collectors and people keen to keep a souvenir of the park, but also professional catering companies and other theme park operators.

Some of the available lots are already online and the auction will finish on 27 September. Interested buyers can visit the park on 25 September to see what is available.

Open since 1988, Océade and the rest of the Bruparck complex is being demolished to make way for a new development, Neo, which will include shops, a Kinepolis cinema and Spirouland theme park.

Océade employs 67 staff and attracted about a quarter of a million visitors a year, making it the third most-visited attraction in Brussels.
