Parking for a concert at the Sportpaleis, Antwerp

Question

My daughter and I have tickets for a concert at the Sportpaleis in Antwerp and will be travelling by car from Brussels.
We have been to a concert there before, and took 90 minutes to get out of the parking just by the arena. This time, we'd like to try and avoid a similar experience.
I recall that there were tram stops in the area. Is there perhaps an option to park at a station some distance from the stadium and then get public transport to the venue? If so, which station would be most convenient if we were coming from Brussels?

Think the price of park and ride was included in our ticket last time we went there.

Whatever you do, do NOT put cash in a machine for your ticket.

A full SEVEN MONTHS after parking in official Antwerp parking, I received a demand for cash with menaces threatening a doubling of the fine within seven days, doubling again in another seven days, bailiffs and the ruining of my credit history and then an "etc" with ????? Seriously, question marks as to what they would do next.

Purely by coincidence it was not me that parked but my wife, who had used a card to pay at the machine. I would have put some coins in. Fortunately I could find the payment for the parking on my bank statement, and they dropped their demands with not so much as an apology.

Oh, and not a shred of evidence provided to show I was ever there, just demands for cash.

We did a park and ride the details are on the internet, team does stop opposite the parking but it's not located near to the venue so takes a twenty to thirty min tram ride before and after plus we left immediately we'll actually in encores to avoid long queue for tram after.

Hi,

I think you get all info needed on the http://www.sportpaleis.be/nl/mobiliteit
I would caution on the traffic around that area in the time between 3/6 -9/7 (plus a week before or after when all festival rides and caravans are being set up) as very close to the Sportpaleis (Location of the Park Spoor Oost) will be a huge 'kermis' called Sinksenfoor and traffic around the area will be hell for sure. Even-more so, as the main road going to the Park Spoor Oost is still under construction. I believe the best option is to use P+R and go early enough or, if possible, go to Antwerp with the train and then use any of the trams stopping at the Sportpaleis (might be your best option). If it would be up to me , i would use tram , rather than the bus. The only minus there is, that you do need to wait quite a long time in a queue and that majority of the concert goers have the same plan. Nevertheless I hope you and your daughter enjoy the concert!

Don't be tempted to park on the grass verge. Some roads are wide without pavements and there are no markings, but if you are caught parking on the verge expect a fine of 150euro (road traffic offence rather than parking offence)! The night I was there the police made quite a few thousand Euro very easily!
