One in four business leaders avoids Brussels Airport

About a quarter of the business leaders in Belgium are doing everything they can to avoid using Brussels Airport since the terror attacks of 22 March. The figures are bad news for the airport, which relies on businesses for at least 40% of their passenger numbers, writes De Morgen.

The results come from a survey of 645 Belgian business leaders conducted by employers' organisation Voka. According to the survey, 15% of business travellers prefer to arrange international meetings via conference call rather than fly abroad. Another 6% look for smaller, alternative airports in Belgium or the Netherlands, such as Ostend or Eindhoven. The remaining 5% prefer to take the car instead of the plane or train.
