One in five Belgians affected by a computer virus in 2015

14:40 08/02/2016

About 29% of the Belgian internet users last year had issues with security, and 20% had a computer virus, according to Eurostat, the statistical service of the European Union. The number of Internet users in Belgium to be affected by a computer virus in 2015 is slightly better than the European average of 21%, and significantly better than five years ago, when 32% had a computer virus, writes Het Laatste Nieuws.

Despite the positive results, however, Belgians last year reported more general security issues (29%) than the European average (25%). In addition to computer viruses, these include the abuse of personal information, financial loss online, and minors finding their way to inappropriate websites.
