Office noise generator wins rave reviews from teleworkers

11:43 12/08/2020

If you're stuck at home and missing the buzz of an open-plan office, a Brussels sound engineer has come up with the solution for you.

Stéphane Pigeon created his background office noise generator as a joke - but it has received rave reviews from home workers during the coronavirus shutdown.

Described as "office noise, without the boss yelling at you", the interactive sound generator allows you to tweak the noise levels to create your ideal working environment.

So you can adjust the volume on your co-workers, add in some extra keyboard tapping sounds, clock ticking or photocopier noises to your heart's content.

"This background sound has helped with my productivity," one tele-worker says in a review. "Silence is not always golden."

Another adds: "This seriously makes me feel so much better when I'm working on something. It makes me feel like I have a purpose for working on it and there are people around me to keep me motivated."

Since its launch in April, the app has been used more than 200,000 times. Try it for yourself here.
