Oatmeal

Question

I tried to use the search button, but it doesn't seem to be working. I want to make oatmeal cookies. Where can I buy Oatmeal? Thank you!

Rico

The major supermarket chains sell oatmeal (I am certain about Colruyt and Delhaize), either in very small or larger flakes. In French, 'flacons d'avoine' and 'havermout' (I think) in Flemish.

Try health shops and Stonemanor, the British store in Everberg.

The flacons d'avoine for sale in Colruyt at least make miserable oatmeal; they're cut too thin and end up as a paste rather than a porridge. Yuck. I don't expect they'd do much better in cookies where you need some chew from the oatmeal.

Aldi just brought in a brand of great oatmeal that is good for baking.I dont know if this is just a one of stock for the season.

Delhaize has a bio "flaçons d'avoine" that is quite good—when it is in stock—not thin and mushy when cooked as warned about above. Just right for baking. Sold in a clear sack.
