Notifying employer of pregnancy
I'm currently negotiating a new job which will start in the next month or so. The slight problem is that I'm about 9 1/2 weeks pregnant and obviously haven't told the potential new employer yet. When we started talking about this new job I wasn't yet pregnant. My question is, when do I legally have to tell them? Can I wait until I sign my contract, when I may hopefully be past the 12 week stage, or am I obliged to tell them before I sign, knowing that the pregnancy may end in miscarriage (which has happened to me before)?
For sure you are not obliged to tell them yet. The deadline is 20weeks I think,or somethinglike that. I remember that a friend of mine had to inform the employer around 5 months.
It's not an easy situation as the new employer might not like it but then you are totally right to wait especially as you have a history of miscarriage.
