American Marrying belgian Resident

I am an American citizen and I have just sent my paperwork to get Apostilled so that I can schedule an appointment at the commune to get married to my Belgian resident fiancee. my question is after our marriage appointment do I have to apply for a visa still? what comes afterwards because everytime I ask the people at the commune aka stadhuis they steer me in the wrong direction. Where do I go after here..?
