Zero Waste organisation calls for volunteers to clean up Belgium
People wanting to help reduce waste in Belgium are being given the chance to volunteer with Zero Waste Belgium, RTBF reports.
Zero Waste Belgium is an association that actively raises awareness of issues related to waste in Belgium. Their missions is to inform the general public of waste issues and problems, share their knowledge, bring together the Zero Waste community and support public services.
The organisation is calling on citizens to sign up to “an active team that wants to encourage change through action and participate in the ecological transition to a more respectful and resource-efficient society.”
Volunteers will join Zero Waste teams across the country working at large scale events such as fairs and festivals.
Anyone interested in joining the Zero Waste team can attend a welcome event today – Wednesday, 18 May – at Rue Américaine 11 in Brussels from 18.00.
During this event, potential volunteers will have the opportunity to get to know each other, be shown a presentation of the project and participate in workshop activities.
More information and application forms can be found here.

Cycling in the south/south east of Bx (Huldenberg etc) one is struck by the amount of beer cans etc jettisoned by cars. There is a very simple solution to this. All such containers have a deposit. Let's start with 1euro - refundable at any & all supermarkets. Such an approach would also reduce the amount of recyclable waste collected by communes. Whilst beer cans might be jettisoned - a self funded work force would emerge to remove them.
