Left to struggle
I am Irish & living in Belgium since 2012. I own my own bar, have always paid my taxes etc, and never abused the social system of this country. I have experienced the same problems as other horeca owners in that I've been forced to close. I applied for my double bridging as soon as we closed in October & received my first payment at the start of Nov. I'm a single mother of a 3 year old. Since then I have received nothing. I telephone twice per week every week. They owe me over €4800 as now, soon to be over 6k. I am 2 months behind on rent. No money for food. My friends have paid my loan. I'm over 200€ in late payment fees on payment plans or bills etc. Some necessities might be cut off soon. I'm stressed to the max!! Xerius answer..."you'll be paid when you're paid, we're over stretched right now & can't cope with the applications". How does that help me live or support my son. I'm at the end of my patience & struggling....it's been a miserable Christmas. What can I do? This is money im ENTITLED to. Please advise!
Sorry to hear about your situation, and of course you aren't alone. My only suggestion to you is to try and speak with your bank. They will be aware of the government support schemes, and may be able to support you with a loan or an overdraft until your money comes in.
Also, as you have a child, you should also approach the CPAS (sorry, don't know what it is caled in Flemish) in your commune and ask them for advice and help. They are used to dealing with this type of situation all the time.
