Marches and public transport disruption on 2 October

20:26 01/10/2018

Expect public transport disruption and road closures in many Belgian cities on Tuesday, in a coordinated day of action by unions against pension reforms.

In Brussels, the demonstration begins at 10.00 at Place de l'Albertine, next to Central Station, and is expected to attract tens of thousands of protesters. A human chain will also be formed around the federal parliament building.

Other demonstrations are planned in Namur, Liège, La Louvière, Antwerp, Ghent, Kortrijk, Hasselt and Leuven.

Stib is expecting to run a reduced service on Tuesday. Details of which lines are running will be published on its site, Facebook and Twitter throughout the day. Passengers can also contact the Stib call centre from 6.00 on 070 23 20 00.

In Walloon Brabant, about two-thirds of TEC bus services are running. Around Mons the figure is 35%, Liège 45%, Namur province 55% and Luxembourg province 85%.

In Flanders, disruption is likely on the De Lijn network in Ghent, Antwerp and Flemish Brabant. The website delijn.be will be updated from 7.00 with the latest travel info.

Train services should run normally, according to the SNCB.
