Sharp growth in coworking facilities around Brussels

21:45 09/04/2018

Brussels is enjoying a boom in coworking spaces, with at least six new facilities in the pipeline over the coming year, Bruzz reports.

According to data gathered by De Tijd newspaper, the amount of flexible workspace available in the capital grew by 32,000m² last year and already by 15,000m² in the first quarter of 2018 alone.

Spaces, a Dutch coworking firm, recently opened sites on Rue Belliard in the EU district and in Diegem close to Brussels Airport. It is planning another space next year, next to the Bourse.

Fosbury & Sons is working on three new coworking facilities - a 7,000m² space near the Sonian Forest, 5,000m² on Boulevard Albert II near North Station and 3,000m² in Groot-Bijgaarden, just outside the Brussels region.

Another cowork provider, Tribes, has locations on Avenue Marnix and Avenue Louise and has two others planned for Rue des Colonies (next to Central Station) and Brussels Airport.

Bruzz reports: "Coworking was a new and relatively exceptional phenomenon until about two years ago. Now it is becoming increasingly common to work with non-colleagues in a flexible workplace."

The key is to find the Coworking space with a feel and community that works for you. They are quite different: some IT focused and others dominated by change makers or traditional business. The other Coworkers are your colleagues. You need to know you will get on with them. Also check the facilities such as coffee/tea area, lunch room, showers in case you ride your bike or run during the day. They are fun and can be very productive as you can ask your community for support, ideas and approval. Enjoy.
