Understanding Car Insurance

I been living in Brussels the last 6 years and have never personally had to deal with my car insurance. This year I am changing the insurance from the organization I work with into my own name. I was previously paying around 800€ for a 2006 Puegot in Etterbeek. I am getting a 2006 BMW and I was quoted 1500€ for insurance. 32 years old and no accidents in 16 years of driving. Does this seem right? The insurance I was quoted was liability (required) and juridicial protection. This is with Axa car insurance. Trying to wrap my ahead around this....
