Soon-to-be Crown Princess Elisabeth (11) has, oddly enough, problems with French. "She even gets private tutoring," says royalty watcher Brigitte Balfoort, who spoke to parents from her class.
"Princess Mathilde insists that her kids be perfectly bilingual. She has planned that with Philippe in great detail: they have a Dutch-speaking nanny and send their children to a Dutch-speaking school, while they speak French with them at home. Therefore Elisabeth speaks and writes perfectly in Dutch, but she's struggling to write in French. That's why she is now following French lessons outside of the classroom."
