no pub enforcement
Whilst sorting out paper trash the other day I realized that the bulk of it was publicity put through the letter box which is never read and goes directly in the paper trash.
So I put up a "no pub" sticker to stop this stupid waste of paper and my time.
Today I got a flyer from Century 21. The sticker is right next to the letter box so is no way it could have been missed. Does anyone know of any official course of action one can take to report those spamming our post boxes this way? We're living in Brabant Wallon.
Pop along to your friendly local police station and report it.
A flyer? OMG! Yes, call the police directly.
Just recycle the paper.
Just to check: is the sticker one you made yourself, or the official one?
If it is the official one, those distributing advertising material are legally bound to respect it. Putting advertising material in your letterbox when you have an official "Stop Pub" sticker is considered to the akin to littering and it's an environmental infraction.
However, only the official stickers have such legal value so if yours is not the official one, you should replace it. All the information applicable to Wallonia is at http://www.policelocale.be/5318/actualites/233-stop-pub-a-chacun-son-aut...
If if is the official one, you can report this incident; the contact details are on the same page.
I have watched the minimum wage drones who deliver these things and if you think that 'The sticker is right next to the letter box so is no way it could have been missed' applies, think again. They are rushing to get the job done - fold the leaflet, find the delivery slot, stick it in and run to the next place. They simply do not look; they work on auto-pilot.
An official sticker will deal with most of this junk but you will never stop it completely and more than you can stop unwanted snail mail.
Where could I get an official sticker please.
I have the official sticker for over a year by now but I still keep receiving their flyer(s).
