New Year’s fireworks in Brussels after all
Brussels will ring in the New Year with a fireworks display, according to the programme for the city’s New Year’s celebration. The news comes after just last week it was announced that fireworks may not be possible at the event’s new location, De Brouckère, reports brusselnieuws.be.
The festivities have moved from their traditional spot at Mont des Arts/Kunstberg to the square at De Brouckère. The question arose as to whether it was possible to safely hold a fireworks display at the new location. According to the City of Brussels, De Brouckère poses no problem and therefore the fireworks will take place as usual, announced Mayor Yvan Mayeur.
This year’s celebration will include much more than fireworks, including a sound and light show and DJ sets from 23.00. It will be a "magical and modern" spectacle, according to the City.
