New remote control car key

Question

Dear all, when i have a new remote control key made in my garage it will set me back 200 euro at the least. Is there anywhere else they offer this service for a realistic price? Many thanks

I was amazed to be quoted this kind of price for a new key for my car.
However, when I went to get the job done I found that the remote control element was specific to my car (it has to be linked to the VIN of the car) and the spare key has to be 'taught' to recognise the new set up - if not, the spare will not start the car even though there is no remote control element on the spare key.
This means that, in addition to getting the key, there is also a labour charge for the mechanic who 'teaches' the spare!
You can get a new key cut in the same way as any key but the remote control element can only be supplied by a main dealer of the specific make of car.

I don't know of anywhere that will do this other that the franchised dealer, hence the price. It's a total rip-off because they can.

€200 isn't a bad price for a new electronic key.

For another quote, try getting in touch with this company by email, as I think they deliver to Belgium.

You'll have to do a bit of work, but there are instructions all over the web.

Hi if you buy a cheap key it might not work, these are really specific times and yes they cost a lot even if a manufacture loses or breaks one the cost is high because it's a unique key and has to have the correct security activated and in paired to only your car

Hi thanks all. I was informed that they are key maker shop in the centre who also do the remote control keys instead of the normal keys and that could be cheaper.

Once I was caught in a strange situation while travelling all alone at night. I saw a little shop at the roadside and stopped the car to buy few snakes. I bought biscuits and wafers, paid money, and turned back to unlock the car and realised that I have dropped the car key somewhere in the bushes. I put all my efforts to find the key, but it was scary to stay there for longer, so I thought of calling the nearest locksmith immediately. The professional locksmith for Durban traced my location and helped getting new car keys on site. I am greatly thankful to them, as I would not have been able to deal with the situation without them.

I don’t have a rich knowledge about car locking system, so I had to fully rely on Ms. S. Maryline for replacing the car lock, and make sure that I can operate it remotely.
