need advice on house sale

Question

Hi- We will be putting our home up for sale and need some advice. Is it best to go with one real estate agent exclusively? Some have suggested we avoid realtors, but we are not well informed of Belgian law and feel we may have problems with a private sale. Can anyone recommend a local attorney (Woluwe St. Pierre) who might also give us a valuation of the house? We understand they can be more reliable in this case.Any advice on how best to proceed would be much appreciated. I've read through Q & A, but still feel we could use additional info. Also, can anyone recommend a realtor? Should we try several? Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

You need a lawyer. Or rather a Notaire. We used this lot in Overijse - also fluent in French and English.

Given that you "are not well informed of Belgian law and feel we may have problems with a private sale", then go and get some legal advice first. You will pay for it - it's a fixed fee formula that goes on the eventual sale price of the property.
.
If you do use an estate agent, negotiate a hefty discount on the fee in return for exclusivity.

Sorimo and Latour & Petit were 2 that did not stand out when househunting and seemed pretty normal. Most of the others were unpleasant, unprofessional, secretive, aggressive, dishonnest, or plain stupid.
