Moving to Italy after knee operation - Handicap status

Question

Would like some advice on a unique situation. We are a family of 4 planning to move to Italy sometime later this year for work (company transfer). I am the sole earning member of the family. Few months ago I fell off the steps in my house, seriously injured my one knee and had a few surgeries. Post the operations, it's definitely not the way it was before and will never be. After consultation with my doctor, he said I am eligible for an handicapped status in Belgium.

Since we are planning the move to Italy shortly, are there any advantages or disadvantages in applying for the handicap status here in Belgium or leave it the way it is here and apply for the status in Italy when I register there later this year?

My concern is from an administrative perspective in Italy if it will matter if I was already registered handicapped in Belgium or not. Thanks for your suggestions in advance.

You are moving in connection with your employer's needs. Presumably they are aware of your injury so they should be able to advise on what you should do.
In any case both countries are in the EU so your registration here should apply there just as well.
