Most Brussels flights on schedule, many without luggage

11:58 14/05/2013

Only a handful of flights have been cancelled today at Brussels Airport as a result of the strike at baggage handling company Swissport. However, many planes will leave without any luggage on board, said airport spokesman Jan Van der Cruysse. Passengers are advised to check in advance if their flight is confirmed and if they can take luggage. The Brussels Airport website features a list of airlines affected by the strike, Van der Cruysse told the Belga news agency this morning. It is advisable for people going on a short break to bring only a carry-on bag. Travellers leaving for a long period to a single destination can check in their luggage, which will be delivered to them after the strike. “We hope that a solution will be reached today, allowing the situation to return to normal,” Van der Cruysse said.
