More than 5,000 foreign doctors practicing in Belgium

As of 2012, there were 5,326 non-Belgian doctors with an active INAMI number working in Belgium, according to figures from the FPS Health. The foreign doctors account for more than 10% of the 44,741 active physicians in the country, writes La Dernière Heure.

The majority of foreign doctors come from neighbouring countries: France (1,142), the Netherlands (960) and Luxembourg (159). Doctors from Greece and Romania are also well represented, with 207 and 505 doctors, respectively.
