Montessori courses/experience in Brussels
Hello!
I was wondering can anyone help me. After working in the 'political sphere' here in Brussels for the past 2 1/2 years, I'm looking for a change in direction because my heart isn't in it anymore. I've always wanted to work with young kids (such as in Montessori of creche's). Is there any childcare courses available here in Brussels? Or does anyone know of anywhere where I could go and get experience in it?? I'm a native English speaker but my French is limited.
I'd be so grateful of any info or leads anyone could give me!!
Many Thanks,
Maura

DHOP, Are you "Montessori" or "Montessori-inspired" as in your advert next door? Sounds like you have no idea what you are talking about, if you are ready to hire any random folks for your crèche.
Alkalineciara, there are no Montessori training courses available in Belgium.
Montessori is not just a fancy name, it's an educational method which requires proper training (a full school year or more). If you are interested, please visit the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) website, http://ami-global.org/
hello,
TCHIZHIX,
First of all , I would like to let you know that i indeed followed a Montessori training in Paris (Nogent sur marne) certified AMI, and i have my certification to prove it.
So I do know what i am talking about.
I took sabbatical to fully understand and learn about the Montessori method indeed there isn't any in Belgium that is why i went abroad, the person asked if there is anyone who could provide experience that is why i proposed to discuss it because i myself find it very hard to find fully trained montessori people here, so why not provide a lending hand.. The best way to learn something is through experience. ( which is one of the fundamentals of the method) Also I never said i was going to hire on the spot.
I have been working on my project for two full years, with a full time job and three kids and i take pride that i invested my time and money to do it right...Not everybody can invest time and money to go abroad.
Basically that's was the purpose of my reply
once I open feel free to come and have a look..
oh and in my ad i said inspired because there is one area of the method which i still have mixed feelings about. it's related to the non stimulation of anything abstract and any imaginary fairy tales are not allowed.
Personally I feel that its important for children to develop imagination.
That is why i said inspired not to mislead or offend overeactive purist which is a fail ...( Nothing is just black or white in life)
Very well said DHOP, I wish you success!
TCHIZHIX, tsk- a not so gentle question, and you received such a gentle informed answer. I hope it satisfies the curiosity :-)
Montessori Centre International (run by the Saint Nicholas Montessori Charity) offer a fully recognised and accredited Montessori Pedagogy qualification, which can be completed through distance learning alongside workshops, work placement and exams in their London school. They also offer short introductory seminars in London for those interested in finding out what it's all about. I don't think I can post websites on here but I'm sure a quick google would take you straight to their page for a read around.
After 18 months on the course myself with still another six to go and teaching practice on top before I am certified, I can tell you that it is very much "proper training".
DHOP I am also partial to fairy tales so I know what you mean!
I wish you the best of luck with your opening and congratulate you on what sounds like a very busy couple of years hard work getting to this point, enjoy!
Thank you all for your kind words ! deeply appreciated !!!
