Monday was busiest day ever for Brussels Airport

22:42 30/07/2018

Brussels Airport had its busiest day in history on Monday, with a record 96,000 passengers taking off or landing.

The Zaventem terminal handled 735 flights, as July holidaymakers returned home, August holidaymakers set off and about 5,000 festival-goers flew home from Tomorrowland music festival.

Staff reinforcements were brought in around the busiest peaks in the day - 8.00-10.00 in the morning and 16.00-18.00 in the afternoon.

Brussels Airport has offered some time-saving tips to ensure passengers get to their plane seat with as little stress as possible during the busy holiday season. They include checking your hand luggage for banned items before leaving the house. If you need medicine during the flight, ask your doctor for a note.

Check-in online and download your tickets to your smartphone or print them. Book a parking space in advance on the airport website - or allow a bit of extra time if you are being given a lift to the airport, as the drop-off area immediately outside the terminal building remains closed since the March 2016 attacks.
