Molenbeek work conditions 'deplorable', public service employees say
Public sector workers in Molenbeek have complained that working conditions are "deplorable" within the municipal administration.
They presented a "call for help" to the local council this week in the form of a petition signed by more than 800 workers.
The union is particularly critical of the state of the premises, citing a lack of ergonomic offices, inadequate air quality and problems with temperature control in some buildings.
Equipment is also singled out for criticism, with some maintenance workers having no changing facilities. Workers are also said to be forced to buy their own work equipment.
The union also said the administration is refusing to increase the value of meal vouchers from €3 to €6, “despite the €3 subsidy proposed by the Brussels region”.
