Mini Europe to relocate to Uccle?

11:57 14/06/2013

The Mini-Europe park could relocate to Uccle, on the site behind the Nemo 33 aquatic centre, La Dernière Heure reports today. " Plan B is becoming  Plan A," says Thierry Meeus, the park’s managing director. The lease for the current Heysel site ends on August 31 and will not been renewed. In Uccle, the park could occupy a wasteland of one hectare, which belongs to Nemo 33 boss John Beernaerts. The project has received the backing of local authorities, La Dernière Heure adds. "The commune is excited at the prospect of Mini-Europe coming to Uccle," said Marc Cools, alderman for urban planning. "We, and I especially, will do everything to make it happen". The land is smaller than the two hectares currently available to Mini-Europe at the Heysel site, but all the monuments would fit in the Uccle site, says Meeus, who hopes to (re)open the park in June 2014.
