Metro Fine, Brussels

Question

Hello,

I always pay for the metro, but today I had an absolutely insane concentration of unbelievably bad luck. I normally have one of those ten trip tickets, but forgot it at home, so I bought a single ticket. I ran into some metro employees who checked my ticket, but for some readon I couldn´t find it. I got a 100 euro fine, but I didn´t have the cash on me, and the ATM was out of money. He gave some letter and a bank account number to put the money into.

This just makes me so angry and frustrated since I have paid for the Metro for three months in this country. I am, however, leaving in one month. What would the consequences of not paying the fine be? I feel one the hand pretty bad, because I screwed up (I.e. I should follow the law of the country) but then again, I have paid my money to the Metro-system... argh.

Advice?

J

They have heard that one before.

If you CAN find the ticket, then go in and appeal.

Hey I have a identical problem and I was wondering how it turned out for you. Were you able to get away with not paying?
