Meet the new US ambassador to Belgium

Denise Bauer, the new ambassador of the United States to Belgium, arrived in the country over the weekend. She follows up former ambassador Howard Gutman, who had come to the end of his mandate. Bauer is from California and was a fundraiser for the presidential campaigns of U.S. President Barack Obama. In the 1980s and 90s she had a career in the media. She has a husband and has two daughters, all of whom have moved with her to Belgium. In a video on YouTube the new ambassador introduced herself, saying she likes cycling and is an avid football fan who looks forward to supporting the Red Devils in qualifying for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
