Medicine for a bad diaper rash on baby

Question

My baby has all of a sudden developed a really bad diaper (nappy) rash where his bum is all red and he has very painful sores. I cannot tell what caused it since we have not been doing anything different. Are there any over the counter creams that are very effective for a bad rash? Or what kind of medicine (cream or ointment) would you recommend I ask for at the pharmacy.

cotton nappy or no nappy at all if over 6 months old and doesn't poo so often. Sudocrem equivalent if it's possible.

We got a great cream at the pharmacy but I forgot the name, much more effective than regular diaper creams.

Also, dermatologist recommened giving a bath with rice starch http://www.remycare.be/en/products/view/remy_royal, you can find it in Delhaize..

E45 Eryplast cream is very effective. Most pharmacies stock it here.

The best of the best is Bepanthol OINTMENT (not creme)!!! It's  amazing how fast it helped my two children. To prevent that kind of rush,  use Bepanthol creme.
