Manneken Pis now also in Las Vegas
In addition to a replica of the Eiffel Tower and the Sphinx of Giza, visitors to Las Vegas can now also admire a replica of Manneken Pis, Brussels' famous statue of a peeing boy. A much larger version of the original bronze statue was unveiled on Tuesday in the American gambling city.
It is the third accredited copy of the original, in addition to replicas in Tokyo and Rio de Janeiro. The Vegas version is almost two meters tall and weighs more than 200 kilos. Derek Stevens, owner of The D Las Vegas where the statue is located, expects the statue to be a real tourist attraction. According to Derek and his co-owner brother Greg, who are of Belgian descent, the statue was “the highlight of our family visits to Belgium.”
The brothers signed a contract for the rights to the statue for 100 years.
