Major public transport disruptions expected Friday
Users of Brussels’ public transportation system are being warned to expect significant delays along the city’s metro, tram, and bus lines tomorrow as employees of the Brussels transport service STIB/MIVB reduce staffing along the lines. The labour action comes on the heels of the court verdict that saw the man responsible for the death of a bus inspector escape jail time on a suspended sentence. The staff want to show the justice system their anger with the decision by disrupting the daily commute.
In a letter published on the company website, STIB/MIVB is already apologising to the public for what it says will be significant disruptions on Friday, and are urging commuters to seek alternative ways of getting around the city. Commuters are being directed to the company’s website for the latest updates.
