Maggie De Block attends opening of cartoon exhibition about herself
Belgium's health minister Maggie De Block on Tuesday attended the opening of an art exhibition starring herself. The opening of the exhibition Maggie took place in the Brussels gallery The Cartoonist, where it runs until 15 December.
The exhibition features cartoons from the Belgian press about De Block, who presented the nine new cartoonists: Karl, Zaza, Steve Fritz (Joris Vermassen) Sondron, Fred, Clou, Joris Snaet and Cost, writes De Standaard.
"I'm surprised and honoured to serve as inspiration for press cartoons,” said the minister. “These cartoons hold a mirror up to ourselves, and keep your feet on the ground. Humour also helps to soften some of the criticism that politicians have to face."
“The attack on Charlie Hebdo should remind us how important it is to cherish and defend freedom of press," she concluded in De Standaard.
