Luxembourg-Schuman pedestrian bridge under consideration

16:17 08/05/2019

A study has been commissioned on the possibility of constructing a pedestrian and cycle bridge between Place du Luxembourg and Rond-point Schuman. The bridge would be completely separated from traffic.

The success of the pedestrian bridge that runs along the train tracks between Luxembourg and Germoir stations convinced the Capital-Region to look into another such transport option. The commission of the study is being carried out in co-operation with the European Parliament and Infrabel.

The bridge would cut the walking distance by about half, from more than one kilometre now to some 500 metres. The Brussels region hopes that the bridge would convince more people to use public transport, improving both air quality and liveability in the EU quarter.
