Lukaku will be fit to play, say Red Devils

10:05 09/06/2014

Fears that Romelu Lukaku would fail to make the World Cup due to injury were allayed on Sunday when Belgian team mate Daniel Van Buyten confirmed to the press that the Chelsea striker only had a hematoma in his right foot after a Belgium friendly against Tunisia the day before.

Lukaku limped off the pitch on Saturday night a few minutes before the final whistle blew after a tackle from Tunisia’s Bilel Mohsni.  Initial reports claimed that he had suffered a severe ankle sprain. Following the news that his injury was less severe than previously thought, Van Buyten said that Big Rom would probably be back in the game in five days’ time at the latest.

Lukaku is expected to be Belgium’s main striker in Brazil.
