Looking for maternelle in Schaerbeek

Question

hey there, we have recently moved to Schaerbeek, area of the Place Bienfaiteurs. Our daughter is 11 months and I understand we need to start lookig for a maternelle for her. We speak English and Polish plus some French and we are open in terms in which language she ll study as we also plan learning Flemish.

Can anyone recommend a good school in Schaerbeek - by good I mean good education level, open minded teachers, maybe also not so big schools?
Also, how to find out about the inscriptions, how does it work?

Thank you for any tips,
KR,
Jo

I

Most desirable communal maternelles are nos 13, 16 and 17, nowhere near Place Bienfaiteurs, then most desirable Catholic maternelles are La Vierge Fidele, Divin Sauveur, Sainte-Marie-Meiser and St Dominique, again not near Bienfaiteurs.
.
Your nearest schools are Annociation and communal no 10 which is about to add new classes because of the terrific growth in population.
.
As for Dutch schools, not enough in Schaerbeek either, priority is for Dutch speaking children. Not sure I'd recommend Dutch in Schaerbeek to a non Dutch speaking family, as French dominates everywhere and the Dutch language schools are chock with non Dutch first language children and you'll here French as the principal language there.
.
You daughter can start school in February 2014 and enrolments for the September 2013-June 2014 school year will commence in September 2012 at some schools. You must contact each school individually and ask for specifics of enrolment mornings or weeks.
.
In Schaerbeek, you won't find a single school with less than 150 children in it, some have close to 1000 in maternelle+primaire.
