local secondary school, first child

Could you please share some experience with me -how did you apply for a good Dutch secondary school in Brussels? When do you come and stand in the row? Do I have to spend whole night in front of the school? I've heard of a posibbility to pay a local student to wait for you. Where do I find them and how much do they cost?  TIA
