Lizards in Belgium?

I was very unpleasantly surprised tonight to find a light colored, striped, fat lizard in my diningroom tonight.  Are there lizards native to Belgium?  I thought the climate would be too cold and rainy for them in Brusses?  Could not find any information about Belgian lizards on the Internet.  Has anyone else experienced them?
