The Little Explorer
Belgium is a hotbed of activities for parents and children to share. The problem is, not everyone is aware of all the options available in the fields of culture, sports, nature or even gastronomy. Luckily, help is at hand courtesy of a website conceived and designed by a real family.
It all began with a list. A mum, a dad and their two daughters put together a list of interesting activities to be had together, and decided to share it. They created LePetitMoutard.com, a French-language website listing all family activities available in Belgium, Luxembourg and France.
Five years later, their website was a runaway success and was taken over by the Hi-Media group. A Dutch-language version (Springintveld.be) was launched and, due to overwhelming interest from Belgium’s international community, an English version followed: www.the-little-explorer.be.
The primary aim of The Little Explorer is to put an end to those interminable boring days and find suggestions of activities for families – suggestions that are realistic, close to home and adapted to every age range up to 12 based on parents’ and children’s preferences.
Sharing and participating are at the heart of the website. As well as suggesting family outings, The Little Explorer offers the chance to take part in competitions and win prizes for the whole family. Parents also have the possibility to share their opinions and tips, helping build the community by leaving comments and ratings on their experiences. Finally, registering as a member will allow them to create lists containing their favourite places and share them with fellow explorers.
