Liège police help woman deliver baby outside police station

Liège police assist woman in labour

Liège police had an unusual call out on Wednesday morning after a police motorcyclist spotted a badly parked car in front of city police headquarters.

When he arrived on the scene, he was surprised to discover a couple in a state of panic. A woman was prematurely in the final stages of labour and her husband had deliberately parked their car at police headquarters to call for help.

The police motorist with the assistance of colleagues helped her give birth. After successful delivery, they wrapped up the baby before emergency services arrived on the scene to take the family to a local hospital.

“Both mum and her little girl are doing well and dad is relieved and full of gratitude to our police,” said a police spokesperson of the “great adventure”.
