Less five-star hotels in Belgium

12:14 28/08/2013

While Belgium counted 25 five-star hotels in 2011, last year there were only 15, a decrease of about 40 percent, the FPS Economy reports today. Its figures show that the number of overnight stays in Belgium in 2012 remained more or less stable at 17.8 million, but show a different image depending on the number of stars. Five-star hotels took the biggest hit last year, with a decrease of 36.9 percent. While foreign tourists usually account for four out of five customers at five-star hotels, last year a significant number of these customers chose instead to stay at three- and four-star hotels (+7.2 and +7.6%).
