Late trains to and from Brussels scrapped
Belgian rail company SNCB/NMBS will introduce a new timetable from December 2014 which calls for the elimination of a number of late and early trains to and from Brussels. Public transport user organisation TreinTramBus warns that Brussels is about to become the only European capital where no trains run after 23.00.
SNCB/NMBs announced the new plan a few months ago, outlining some of the advantages of the new schedule, including an increase in the number of direct trains to Brussels Airport. But those additional trains come at the expense of many early and late trains, says TreinTramBus.
Consumer organisation Test-Achats is also sceptical, demanding more information about the new timetable, and calling on the government to provide SNCB/NMBS with more resources in the long term.
