Hi,
I've often heard of local evening classes in languages - they tend to be taken by local Belgians, rather than expats. They tend to be 2 x 3 hours per week so quite intensive but also quite affordable. Does anyone know where I might be able to find out more information about this?

I think you may be referring to the courses offered by De Rand. (http://www.derand.be/). They sponsor courses through various local schools. I have taken two years of Nederlands through CVO Tervuren. They have daytime and evening courses available.
