K’s Choice singer to become firefighter

Sarah Bettens, who rose to fame in the 1990s as the singer of Belgian band K’s Choice, is to become a firefighter. The 40-year-old made the announcement last night on the VRT programme Café Corsari. Bettens, the voice behind the worldwide hit Not An Addict, who has lived in Tennessee for a long time, said she found career changes were significantly easier in the US than in Belgium. This doesn’t spell the end of K’s Choice, however: the band (which features her brother Gert on guitar as well as American bassist Eric Grossman) is still a big draw on the festival circuit, and their official website confirms that a North American tour is in the pipeline for next year.
