Korean films to feature at Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival
Korean cinema and TV series have become a global phenomenon, but genre films —particularly thrillers and mysteries — remain its crown jewels.
This year, the Korean Cultural Center in Belgium and the EU reaffirms its support for Korean cinema by collaborating once more with the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFFF). It’s a partnership that enables screenings of Korean films at one of the capital’s most fun and liveliest film festivals.
Staged at Brussels Expo from 8 to 20 April, the BIFFF is a highly-anticipated rendezvous for freaky sci-fi, horror and grind movies. It also features an impressive selection of Korean cinema, including 10 feature-length films and one short.
Among the highlights is the brand-new film An Old Lady with the Knife (pictured, main image) in the presence of director MIN Kyudong. Officially invited to the Berlin Film Festival in February, the film has yet to see a theatrical release. Competing in BIFFF's prestigious Black Raven category (dedicated to thrillers), this film is set to be a standout. It will also be joined by several Korean films making their European and Belgian premieres.
With action, thrillers, animation, mystery, and fantasy, this year's Korean selection promises to offer a diverse cinematic experience. BIFFF 2025 invites film enthusiasts to explore the dynamic world of Korean cinema and celebrate its artistry.
